Where You Can Use It
Consumption is permitted in private residences and at licensed marijuana hospitality establishments (consumption lounges) with both state and local approval. Public consumption — including streets, parks, and vehicles — is strictly prohibited. Denver prohibits consumption on hotel balconies visible from public spaces. Local jurisdictions control whether consumption lounges are permitted.

Driving
Driving under the influence of cannabis is illegal in Colorado. If a driver's blood test shows 5 nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL) or more of active delta-9 THC, a court may legally presume impairment. This is a permissible inference — not an absolute per se limit — meaning drivers can rebut the presumption. Penalties include fines, license suspension, and jail time.
TRAVELING
Traveling
Leaving Colorado with any cannabis product is illegal under federal and state law. Cannabis is prohibited at Denver International Airport (DIA) and all Colorado airports. Crossing state lines with cannabis — even into another legal state — is a federal offense. Cannabis may be transported within Colorado in a sealed container stored out of driver reach.
