Law enforcement uses field sobriety testing and blood draws to establish impairment. A first DUI offense carries fines of $400–$1,000, license suspension of 185 days, and up to 6 months in jail. Open cannabis in a vehicle must be stored in a sealed container in the trunk or inaccessible area.

Cannabis purchased legally in Nevada may not be transported across state lines regardless of the destination state's laws — interstate transport remains a federal offense. This is especially critical for Nevada given the volume of out-of-state visitors who purchase cannabis legally in Las Vegas and attempt to travel home with it. All cannabis purchased in Nevada must be consumed within state borders. Cannabis is prohibited at all Nevada airports including Harry Reid International under federal jurisdiction.
